Giving Through a “Whatever It Takes” Attitude
Good works apart from faith in Christ are ultimately meaningless, and faith without good works is dead. Disciples of Jesus need to be ready and willing to be God’s instruments of hope in the world today.
James 2:14 (NLT) What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?

Giving Through Biblical Teaching
The Bible is a collection of writings penned by many authors over hundreds of years, but every word is inspired by one Holy Spirit. While billions of people have studied these Scriptures, real change happens in our hearts, in our homes, and in our neighborhoods as we obey the Spirit’s words.
Galatians 5:24-25 (NLT) 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

The Holy Spirit is often misunderstood and neglected. By God's design, we want to be people driven and led by the Spirit to bring renewal into our hearts, our homes, our neighborhoods, and beyond.
KEY VERSES:
Luke 4:18-19 (NLT) “The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come.”
Titus 3:6, 8a (NLT) He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. ...This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to insist on these teachings so that all who trust in God will devote themselves to doing good.

Welcome!
Do you remember that TV special about Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer? Rudolph figures out that he’s a misfit, and he decides to be independant. We all have times when we feel like we would be better if we were all alone. We even walk away from God. But God doesn’t leave us alone in the cold.
Tonight we celebrate that God loved the world so much that He gave us His Son, the first and greatest Christmas gift--Jesus Christ, Immanuel, God With Us, the Light of the World.
Jesus is God’s gift to the misfits.
We have all lived in a way that separates us from God and from each other. Through Jesus we find forgiveness from our past; we find direction for the present; and we find hope for the future.
I’m glad you found your way here tonight. You belong here. Together we’re admitting that we are all misfits who need a Savior. This Christmas Eve we worship the King who was humbly born as a misfit in order to bring us safely home to Him.
As you celebrate God’s ultimate Gift tonight, may you also experience His presence.

Sunday Dec 18, 2016
Sunday Dec 18, 2016
“God has now revealed to us his mysterious plan regarding Christ, a plan to fulfill his own good pleasure” (Ephesians 1:9). For thousands of years, prophets and philosophers guessed at how God planned to set a wayward world back on course. At Christmastime we celebrate the Christ child born in a manger, the hope for the world and God’s gift to all who will receive Him.

Pardon for Crimes and Misdemeanors
Jesus was such a misfit in this world that He was sentenced to death. Even during the course of His execution, He made Himself available to a criminal seeking forgiveness and redemption in his final moments. This Christmas season, Jesus still offers the gift of forgiveness and redemption.

Patience for the Misbehaving (Misfits Part 2 of 4)
Sometimes pride keeps people from receiving God’s greatest gift; we think, “I don’t need Jesus.” Other times, the barrier is shame; “I don’t deserve Jesus.” The Gospel accounts make it clear that Jesus sought out people who even His followers found to be offensive. Our friends from Dare to Believe will share with us real-life stories of finding and lifting up people who have been rejected by society, but not by God.
KEY VERSES: Luke 14:13 (MSG) Invite some people who never get invited out, the misfits from the wrong side of the tracks.

"Invite some people who never get invited out, the misfits from the wrong side of the tracks" (Luke 14:13, The Message). This Christmas season, we're going to celebrate the fact that Christ came to Earth humbly, and went out of His way to connect with misfits. When we acknowledge our own misfit status, we find that He gives us a purpose and a place to fit in.
KEY VERSES: Luke 14:13 (MSG) Invite some people who never get invited out, the misfits from the wrong side of the tracks.
