Resurrection Sunday (Easter 2015)

The Veil Was Torn

The death of Jesus is the ultimate example of tragedy being the path to triumph.  When He died, the veil of the temple was ripped in two.  We often learn this as good news that He bought us direct access to the Holy of Holies.  It also may be understood as God the Father tearing His robe, a common Jewish display of grief.  Tragedy and triumph married together.

Desert Songs

A Tough Job

Job 1:20-22 (NLT) Job stood up and tore his robe in grief. Then he shaved his head and fell to the ground to worship. He said, 

“I came naked from my mother’s womb, 

and I will be naked when I leave. 

The LORD gave me what I had, 

and the LORD has taken it away. 

Praise the name of the LORD!” 

In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God.
