Wonderfully Made- God of Wonders 1
Monday May 09, 2011
Monday May 09, 2011
We begin a four week series that will celebrate God the Creator by taking a closer look at His creation. The universe is larger than we can imagine. Sub-atomic is smaller than we can conceive. Our bodies are more amazing than we appreciate. The Earth is more balanced than we realize. All of it points to an amazing Creator. (Message recorded May 8, 2011) Eeview Key Scripture Psalms 139:13-15 (NLT) 13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous— how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. Discussion 1. What do you find marvelous about the inner workings of your own body? 2. This psalm was written about 3,000 years ago. How could today’s advanced science and technology lead us to be less amazed about our bodies? How could today’s science and technology lead us to be more amazed? 3. The psalmist was expressing wonder about how intimately and constantly God was involved in his life. How does our own understanding of God’s presence (whether He feels distant or near) affect our daily lives? 4. The psalmist believes that humans are a product of God’s design. A popular belief today is that our lives are part of an unlikely, ongoing cosmic coincidence. What effects do these differing worldviews have on people? 5. What wonder will you thank God for today?

Growing through grief and loss - Palm Sunday
Tuesday Apr 19, 2011
Tuesday Apr 19, 2011
Jesus prayed three times for the plan of the cross to be re-drafted. Was that suffering necessary? Yes. And we will also experience suffering. When Jesus realized that suffering was the only path to fulfilling his Father’s will, he resolved to move forward. We must have that same resolve. Message recorded April 17, 2011 (Palm Sunday). Rod Zimmerman speaker.

Creating a Rule of Life (Emotionally Healthy Spirituality - 9)
Monday Apr 11, 2011
Monday Apr 11, 2011
Who has God created you to be? What would your life look like if you lived according to His plan? Often our default way of living is to act in reaction to our circumstances, rather than living with a plan (particularly God’s plan). This week's message illustrates how to see in Scripture how living with a plan (a “Rule of Life”) can transform our lives, our households, and our community into a clearer reflection of God’s love. Our bodies grow up whether we like it or not. It’s automatic. Unfortunately, other aspects of our development are not automatic—like our spiritual and emotional maturity. You know people who are grown up, but they still interact in the world as a selfish child, or a rebellious adolescent. Until we recognize our own tendencies to be stuck in immaturity, our spiritual growth in Christ will be stunted. (Message recorded April 3, 2011)

The Rhythms of the Daily Office and Sabbath (Emotionally Healthy Spirituality- 7)
Wednesday Mar 16, 2011
Wednesday Mar 16, 2011
God has rhythm. We see it in the rhythm of day and night, seasons, our breath, our heartbeat. He designed us to live according to His rhythm, which includes times of refreshment and rest. Life without God’s rhythm ends up being chaotic. Some of us are living in that chaos right now. During this message, we'll start bringing order to chaos by discovering the rhythms of the Daily Office (being with God at specific times during your day) and Sabbath (a day of rest).

Enlarge your soul through grief and loss (Emotionally Healthy Spirituality-6)
Wednesday Mar 16, 2011
Wednesday Mar 16, 2011
We all encounter suffering in our lives. This isn’t the stuck-behind-a-slow-driver kind of suffering, but the kind of suffering that changes the course of our future. Often we ask God, “Why me?” During this message we will explore grief and loss, and to start asking a different question: “What now?” (Message from service 03-20-2011)

The Wall (Emotionally Healthy Spirituality-5)
Monday Mar 14, 2011
Monday Mar 14, 2011
It is impossible to be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature. One of the stages on the way to maturity is “The Wall.” One ancient monk called this stage “the dark night of the soul.” How do we follow Christ when we feel all dried up? When our family is falling apart? When our health takes a turn? When we lose sight of hope? During this message, we learn more about how God often takes us on a journey through The Wall. (Message recorded 03-13-2011)

Going Back In Order to Go Forward (Emotionally Healthy Spirituality-4)
Monday Mar 07, 2011
Monday Mar 07, 2011
God placed each of us into a particular family in a particular place at a particular moment in history. A healthy spiritual journey with Christ requires us to recognize how our past is affecting our present. We have to go back in order to go forward. During this message, we’ll see in Genesis 50 how Joseph dealt with an imperfect family situation and lived out God’s will for his life. (Message recorded 03-06-2011)

Know yourself that you may know God (Emotionally Healthy Spirituality-3)
Wednesday Mar 02, 2011
Wednesday Mar 02, 2011
In A.D. 400, Augustine wrote, “How can you draw close to God when you are far from your own self? ...Grant, Lord, that I may know myself that I may know thee.” So often we put on a false self, covering up who we really are. In fact, most of us have put so much energy into that fabrication that we don’t even know who we really are! Giving our true selves to God requires that we take time to peel back the layers of who we are not. (Message recorded 02-27-2011)
