There is a modern proverb that says, “Knowledge is understanding that tomatoes are technically a fruit; wisdom is not putting them in a fruit salad.” That’s true, but it doesn’t tell us much about the Spiritual Gifts of Wisdom and Knowledge, and how God uses those gifts to empower His church. We’ll go to Scripture for that.
1 Corinthians 12:9-11 (NLT) 9 The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. 10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. 11 It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.
Gift Lists in Scripture: Romans 12:6-8, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, 27-31, 1 Peter 4:9-11
Three ways to leverage your Spiritual Gifts.
- Experiment with different areas of service.
- Plug into a Sunday morning ministry by marking your Communication Card (including contact info). Rachael Allen will follow up to let you know about open positions.
- Participate in your Small Group service projects.
- Connect with Service Initiatives like: monthly reviveWISCONSIN outreach events (second Saturday each month), New Day’s Community Christmas Eve Worship Service, Good Friday Blood Drive, Backyard Missions.
- Use an online gifts assessment tool.
- Spiritualgiftstest.com is a good one. No single assessment is perfect.
- Ask others what gifts they see in me.
